Workshops and Courses

A former teacher, Rib Davis has a great deal of experience of running workshops for all age groups.

WRITING SCRIPTS

For many years Rib Davis has given annual lectures on both Dialogue and Characterisation for the MA in Television Scriptwriting at De Montfort University, Leicester; he has also regularly presented lectures at City University. For 4 years he was a lecturer on the MA for Stage and Screen at the London School of Film, Media and Performance, Regent's College (now Regent's University).

At primary and secondary level he has run workshops on various aspects of scriptwriting, including writing for stage and for radio. These workshops range from single sessions, to a day, to a series of days spread over a term. Outcomes vary, from scripts and other forms of writing to performances.

For adults, Rib Davis frequently gives illustrated talks, runs writers’ workshops and runs courses on various forms of scriptwriting for radio, television and stage.

For many years he has co-run playwriting courses in London at The Cockpit, Marylebone. Write Theatre is a series of unique, intensive courses for emerging theatre writers, run by himself and Brian Woolland. As part of the course, as well as working with the tutors the participants have the opportunity to have their writing workshopped with experienced professional actors. Write Theatre also offers a script-reading and mentoring service https://writetheatre.com/script-appraisal-service/ .
